Before you attend college in Texas for engineering, speak to your guidance counselor about scholarships for incoming freshmen. Professional societies and engineering departments of colleges have awards to help fund your college education. Merit and financial need are typically considerations for engineering scholarships. Society of Women Engineers
High school women attending a Texas college and university are eligible for the Society of Women Engineers scholarship. You must major in science or engineering and reside from the Houston area. Five scholarship awards are given out on an annual basis, each valued at $500 annually. To be considered for the scholarship, you must submit your transcripts along with two essays. The scholarship is renewable for a total of five years as long as the student remains in the engineering department and keeps a minimum 3.0 GPA.
